Housing starts up in Sanpete County

A record number of housing permits have been issued in Sanpete County during 2017, putting it on track for a 20 percent increase over 2016. Most of the building is taking place in the northern part of the county, according to the Sanpete County Building Department. Many are single family residences being built in the cities, and although home construction is way up, business construction has not followed suit. One reason for the increase may be the fact that there are very few homes for sale in the county. Another factor could be the number of residents who work in Utah or Salt Lake Counties. And land prices in Sanpete continue to be much lower than both of the other counties. But whatever the reason, it doesn’t appear that the growth will stop any time soon. With expansion continuing on the Wasatch Front, Sanpete will continue to be an attractive alternative for many people.
