A young man from Wales has earned the distinction of being one of a handful of students who scored a perfect 36 on the ACT college readiness exam. Ben Cottam, who is a day student at Wasatch Academy, was recently notified that he had earned a perfect score on the test, joining the top one-tenth of 1 percent of graduating students to do so. Cottam was homeschooled until he was 14 and credited his mother for much of his success, saying she is an incredible teacher.

His 4.0 grade point average and perfect ACT score have attracted interest from multiple colleges, but Cottam already has a plan for his educational future. After serving an LDS mission, he says he wants to study mechanical engineering at BYU.
