One of the suspects in a multi-county crime spree, including a Mt. Pleasant armed robbery and Ephraim automobile-theft, has pleaded guilty. Luis David Cuevas initially pleaded not guilty to the charges in October, but he appeared in Sixth District Court in Manti on November 1 and changed his plea to guilty. He had been charged with multiple counts of robbery, theft, arson and obstruction of justice in connection with the robbery at the Maverik in Mt. Pleasant and a car theft in Ephraim that occurred on October 9. In exchange for his change of plea, several of the charges were dropped.

Sanpete County Attorney Brody Keisel indicated that while the charges against Cuevas were very serious, he didn’t act alone. Two other suspects remain at large. Cuevas’ cooperation with authorities and his small criminal record could be taken into account at his sentencing, which is scheduled for December 13.
