Brian Head Fire Continues to Rage

BRIAN HEAD, Utah (AP)-Per reports from numerous sources, Sunday morning, the Brian Head fire continues to rage. As of 3:24 pm MDT Saturday afternoon, FOX 13 News in Salt Lake City stated evacuations had commenced.

By 8:00 pm Saturday, the Dixie National Forest tweeted that structures had been damaged and the blaze reached 500 acres by that evening.

Incidentally, from May 16-17, S.R. 143, the highway running through Brian Head, had received six inches of new snow, but just a month later, fire encompassed the region.

With S.R. 143 being closed in both directions near Brian Head, residents were instructed to leave the area via S.R. 148 at Cedar Breaks which connects you to S.R. 14 and Cedar City or Long Valley Junction.

Authorities believe the blaze was human-caused.
