(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah is one of only two states not complying with federal guidelines to prevent prison rape. “The Salt Lake Tribune” cites a Department of Justice report showing Utah and Arkansas aren’t fully adopting standards laid out under the Prison Rape Elimination Act. Among them are requiring sex abuse training for staff, and providing ways for inmates to report sexual assault to a rape crisis center or similar organization.
