Utah Baseball Travels to Seventh-Ranked Arizona

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah baseball team travels to seventh-ranked Arizona this weekend for a three-game series against the Wildcats beginning on Thursday, April 20.
Thursday’s game begins at 6:00 p.m. MST (7:00 p.m. MDT) with first pitch on Friday, April 21, at 7:00 p.m. MST (8:00 p.m. MDT). Saturday’s game is at 6:00 p.m. MST (7:00 p.m. MDT).
All three games will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
Utah has won five of its last six games against Arizona. The Utes earned their first Pac-12 series sweep against the Wildcats last year in Salt Lake City. Utah also took two of three of the series in 2015.
Arizona (26-9, 9-6 Pac-12) is ranked seventh in the latest D1Baseball poll. The Wildcats rank third in the nation in batting average (.332). Arizona reached the finals of the College World Series last year.
Utah ranks third in the Pac-12 with a .286 batting average. The Utes are second in the league in runs scored (189) and RBI (170) while ranking fourth in slugging percentage (.397) and on-base percentage (.371). On the mound, Utah is sixth in the conference with a 3.95 ERA, while leading the league in fewest home runs allowed (eight) and pickoffs (eight). Utah is tied for fifth in the league in fewest runs allowed (146).
Dallas Carroll ranks fourth in the Pac-12 in batting average (.389) and second in slugging percentage (.619) and on-base percentage (.466). He is third in the conference in hits per game (1.58). DaShawn Keirsey, Jr., is fourth in the league in hits per game (1.48) and is currently on a 10-game hitting streak.
Jayson Rose is seventh in the conference with 49 strikeouts.
