Gunnison's Drew Hill Named to the Rawlings-Perfect Game Preseason All-Region and All-American Teams

Rawlings Sporting Goods company and Perfect Game announced the Rawlings-Perfect Game All-American and All-Region teams Wednesday; and Drew Hill from Gunnison High School was named to the honorable mention list for the West All-Region team and was named to the High Honorable Mention list for the All-American team.

According to the release on perfectgame.org the teams recognize the top senior high school baseball athletes in the country. The West Region is made up of 13 states: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

There is a first team, second team and the honorable mention list, which Hill was named to for the All-Region team. There is a first team, second team, third team, and the high honorable mention list, which Hill was also named to as a preseason All-American. Utah has one player named to the All-American first team and seven on the High Honorable Mention list. The West Region has two Utah players on the first team and 15 on the honorable mention list.

Hill was also nominated for the Mid-Utah Radio Athlete of the Week Tuesday. Last week Hill helped lead Gunnison to a 4-1 week with wins over Kanab, North Sanpete, Morgan and Beaver and a loss to No. 5 Enterprise.

Hill hit .647 in the five games with five home runs (one shy of the team record for a season), two doubles and a triple. He also recorded 10 RBI and scored nine runs. On the mound he pitched six innings with a 0.00 ERA and 14 strikeouts.

Hill has committed to play college baseball at Utah Valley University.

Gunnison is currently 4-1 on the year and is ranked second in 2A by the Deseret News.
