SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has announced its putting up a billboard urging cat owners to keep their felines indoors in a Utah city where a pet cat was beaten, tortured and left to die. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the 6-year-old cat named Sage went missing last week from its Clearfield home, north of Salt Lake City. The cat was found beaten with hot glue burns, facial injuries and broken ribs and toes. It died from its injuries Thursday. PETA Vice President Colleen O’Brien says in a Monday news release the abuse endured by Sage is a reminder not to leave pets unattended outdoors. A spokeswoman says the PETA billboard will go up in Clearfield once a location is selected.
