Elk herds are thriving in Utah and the Division of Wildlife Resources says there is no limit on the number of permits that will be issued for the general archery bull elk hunt which opens Saturday. Justin Shannon, big game coordinator for the DWR, says there are more than 80,000 elk in Utah. Shannon says general archery elk hunters are not limited to taking a bull elk during the hunt, they can take either on bull or cow. Permits for Utah’s general archery bull elk hunt are available now until the end of the Sanpete Valley extended archery elk hunt on December 31.
