Fire in Willow Creek area burns seven acres

Published on July 03, 2014 at 09:28AM

A fire on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land above Axtell in the Willow Creek area burned seven acres on Tuesday, July 2. The fire was human caused and is under investigation at this time.

Because of the dry conditions, Sanpete County Fire Warden Tom Peterson wants to remind people to be especially careful with fire. Carelessness with campfires, as well as sparks from chainsaws and recreational vehicles, are responsible for many fires each year. Caution should also be exercised when using fireworks over this 4th of July holiday. Anyone wishing to open burn through October 31st must obtain a permit from the Fire Warden.
