A bill that will help Utah’s long-term unemployed is showing signs of life on Capitol Hill. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is praising lawmakers for reaching a bipartisan deal to extend long-term jobless benefits. Aid for millions of Americans expired in late December and efforts to extend it stalled in Congress. If it clears the Senate, it is unclear whether the compromise measure could get through the House. Unemployment in Utah hit a five-year-low earlier this month of three-point-nine percent.
