(Salt Lake City, UT) — Several same-sex couples are suing the state to force it to recognize their marriages. But the state asked a federal judge Wednesday to hold off on a ruling until a decision comes on the appeal of Amendment 3. The state is appealing another judge’s ruling that overturned Amendment 3 which made Utah’s ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional. About 13-hundred gay couples married in Utah before the U.S. Supreme Court granted a stay. The state will make arguments in the appeal of Amendment 3 next month at the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver.
