More than a third of Utah’s school buses are considered “dirty,” for the environment, that is. The state’s Office of Education says nearly 40-percent of statewide school buses were made prior to 2001 meaning they don’t meet federal environmental standards. The “Tribune” says more than one-thousand Utah school buses are more than 13-years-old. EPA guidelines stipulate that new buses must emit 95-percent less pollution than buses built before 2007.
