More Parking Possibly Coming to Delicate Arch

The National Park Service is currently exploring options to increase available parking at the Delicate Arch trailhead in Grand County. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the current parking lot was designed five decades ago and based on annual visitation of 75,000 people. According to the Tribune, more than a million visitors now visit Arches National Park annually, but the trailhead parking lot at the historic Wolfe Ranch near Delicate Arch has only 72 spots. The National Park Service is considering expanding the parking lot, eliminating roadside parking and implementing a reservation system. The trailhead is near the Winter Camp Wash, however, which floods during heavy rainstorms, making the parking issue more complicated.
