Sloop Admits Child Murder

(Farmington, UT) — Thirty-five-year-old Nathan Sloop of Layton is pleading guilty but mentally ill in the murder of his four-year-old stepson Ethan Stacy. He’s been sentenced to 25 years to life for the 2010 crime. Sloop’s lawyer says his client was also taking medication and didn’t intend for the boy to die. The boy’s mother and Sloop’s wife is also charged in the boy’s death. Police accused the two of abusing the boy and when they found he had died they say the couple buried the body near Powder Mountain Ski Resort in Weber County.
