(Salt Lake City, UT) — A two-week search for outside counsel to handle Utah’s case against same-sex marriage is complete. State Attorney General Sean Reyes yesterday hired Washington, D.C.-based lawyer Gene C. Schaerr as lead outside counsel in the case. Schaerr is one of three lawyers hired yesterday to handle the case. Officials say the conservative public policy think tank The Sutherland Institute was heavily involved in the hiring decision.
