In one round of voting during a special election on Thursday, Nov. 7, Republican party delegates elected Sanpete County Commissioner Jon Cox to fill the vacancy in the Utah House of Representatives District 58. Cox, a history teacher at Snow College, was chosen to replace former District 58 representative Spencer Cox, who was recently appointed as Lieutenant Governor.

There were three candidates for the House position: Cox; Claudia Jarrett, another Sanpete County commissioner; and Lori Nay, Mayor of Gunnison.

Jon Cox will be sworn in on November 20.
