A 19-year-old Ivins man was arrested on Tuesday for impersonating an officer after he called the actual police for backup during a fake traffic stop. The St. George Police have been searching for a man who has been allegedly impersonating officers for quite a while. But Monday is when they finally tracked down and arrested Ruben Holt. Holt apparently had pulled behind a parked car and approached the driver, then called the St. George Police for backup. Police responded to his call with his subsequent arrest. Mental issues are predicted to have played a part in Holt’s actions. According to Police Sgt. Sam Despain “Holt just really feels that he is an undercover police officer.” Holt was arrested on two counts of impersonating a police officer, disorderly conduct, and unlawful detention. He was booked into the Washington County’s Purgatory Correctional Facility.
