The Bureau of Land Management Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument is seeking public input on a Livestock Grazing Monument Management Plan Amendment and Associated Environmental Impact Statement that will replace existing grazing management decisions and amend the Monument Management Plan. The announcement was published in the Federal Register on November 4 and initiates a public scoping period that will end either 60 days from the notice date of publication or 30 days after the last public scoping meeting, whichever one turns out to be the latest date. During this time frame the BLM is looking for public input to determine relevant issues that will influence the scope of the environmental analysis, alternatives, and guide the process for developing the EIS. The BLM will host public scoping meetings on December 10th in Kanab, December 11th in Escalante and December 12th in Salt Lake City. The locations of the meetings will be published at least 15 days in advance. For updates you can check the BLM website at www.ut.blm.gov/monument.
