Week 7 WSFL Players of the Week

PHOENIX (AP)-With Week 7 in the Western States Football League having come and gone, three more exceptional performers received player of the week honors as confirmed by Snow College sports information director Doug Johnson Tuesday.

Scottsdale quarterback Blake Decker, a sophomore from Mesa, Ariz., set a school record with 724 net yards of total offense, throwing for 689 yards and 10 scores against one interception, while completing 31 of 51 passes.

Additionally, Decker ran for a score in the Artichokes’ 77-56 win over New Mexico Military.

The defensive player of the week was Mesa sophomore outside linebacker Taylor Hansen who returned an interception for a touchdown in the Thunderbirds’ 27-21 win over Phoenix College Saturday.

The West Jordan, Utah native (a product of Bingham High School) also posted 11 tackles in the win.

Hansen’s teammate, return specialist DeMarlon Morris, was named as special teams player of the week, amassing 132 all-purpose yards, including a 77-yard touchdown return for the Thunderbirds.

Morris, a 5’11,” 180-pound sophomore from Chicago currently leads the nation by averaging 26.3 yards per punt return.
