Capitol Reef To Change Visiting Hours

(CAPITOL REEF NATIONAL PARK)-Via its official Twitter account Friday, Capitol Reef National Park announced it is changing its visitor hours effective Sunday September 29.

From September 29-Saturday November 2, the park will be open daily from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. MDT while a free interpretive geology talk will occur daily at 10:00 a.m.

There will be the possibility of evening programs on Fridays and Saturdays at this time, but please check the visitors’ center for more information.

The visitors’ center will also be open Monday October 14 for Columbus Day.

Capitol Reef will also celebrate National Fossil Day and Earth Science Week from October 16-20 with special geology programs and activities at Ripple Rock Nature Center.

Furthermore, the historic Gifford House will be open from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. daily through Saturday October 26 before closing for the fall season.

The Gifford House features freshly-baked pies, breads and pastries that visitors may purchase.
