Police say they may never know why two Murray teenagers who were best friends and neighbors were fatally shot over the weekend. Officers were called to a home in Murray on Saturday night where they found 15-year-old Andrew Nelson and 13-year-old Ashton Peck. Both boys had a single gunshot wound. Det. Jeff Maglish says Peck was dead by the time the paramedics showed up but Nelson was still breathing. He was rushed to a hospital and died on Sunday night. Maglish says investigators are still trying to determine what happened but believe the teenagers were the only people involved. Maglish says both teens were shot with the same gun, which belonged to Nelson’s parents. Officials are still trying to determine what happened and who was shot first.
