Funeral held for scout who died at camp

The funeral for the 14-year-old boy who died last week at a Sanpete County scout camp was held Monday in Cedar Hills. Dozens of scouts in uniform came out to show their support and respect for Bruce Rhiddlehoover who passed away last week after slipping under the wheels of a trailer at a scout camp in Sanpete County. Friends described Rhiddlehoover as a fun-loving and charitable young man, recalling a time when the scout took three years of his allowance and donated it to pay for a girl’s cancer treatment.

Rhiddlehoover was better known by friends and family as “Rocky,” and was never able to shake the nickname even though neighbors said that he tried. Rhiddlehoover was performing a nightly duty of going around Tifie Scout Camp at Mountain Dell Scout Ranch and picking up trash when he fell under a trailer about 8 p.m. According to scout officials, the driver of the truck was a first aid instructor at the camp. The man has not been cited for the accident.
