The Hickman Bridge/Rim Overlook trail-head at Capital Reef National Park is still closed to due safety concerns and it may be closed for awhile. In March a rock fall with several hundred tons of rock and boulders as large as automobiles fell onto the trail. The Acting Superintendent Scott Brown has determined that the unstable condition of the rock face above the Hickman Bridge/Rim Overlook trail poses a significant safety risk to the public. The trail is accessible by wading the Fremont river east of the closure but is not encouraged by Capital Reef National Park. There are plenty of other great trails to hike and enjoy including Cassidy Arch, Cohab Canyon and Chimney Rock loop while visiting.
