EPHRAIM, Utah (AP)-Per a press release issued Wednesday, Snow College athletic director Rob Nielson announced the institution has begun to assemble an intercollegiate rodeo team slated to begin competition this fall.

Nielson stated the coeducational program will compete in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association and perform throughout the Rocky Mountain region.

The head coach will be Kendra Sagers and presently, a national search is being undertaken to find athletes for the squad.

In the Rocky Mountain region, Snow will compete against Southern Utah, Utah State, Utah Valley and Weber State, as well as Idaho State, Colorado Mesa, Southern Idaho and Colorado Northwestern, the latter two of which are also Scenic Western Athletic Conference opponents.

Sagers is a Snow alumnae who participated in rodeo at the school when it was a non-sanctioned sport.

Sagers stated that Snow has many advantages other schools do not as they are in close proximity to the Blackhawk Arena in Salina, the ConToy Arena in Mt. Pleasant and an immaculate outdoor arena in Ephraim, thus enabling athletes to practice year-round at Salina and Mt. Pleasant.
