The Beaver Beavers have won a combined 32 state championships during the school’s history, but non of them are in baseball. Coach Curt Heslington feels that his undefeated team has a good shot at finally hanging that coveted banner. In 16 games this season, Heslington’s team has allowed only 22 runs, the lowest in the state by 26. The 16-0 Beavers are the favorite heading into this weekend’s rounds of the 2A State Baseball Tournament. They will host American Leadership in the first round. The 16-2 Manti Templars are believed to have the best shot at upending the beavers. Manti will host Richfield in the opening round. Other first round games include North Sevier vs Emery at Beaver High School. Millard will play at Summit Academy, and Gunnison plays San Juan at Summit. Rounds 1 and 2 of the double elimination tournament will be played Saturday, with the following rounds played next Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
