Suspect in St. George Texting Fatality Appears in Court

A St. George resident accused of texting while driving and causing a traffic accident that killed a pedestrian on a nearby sidewalk made her initial appearance in 5th District Court Thursday. 50-year-old Carla Lynn Brennan is charged with automobile homicide, a second-degree felony that could result in a one to fifteen year prison sentence plus restitution judgement if she is found guilty at trial. According to probable cause information filed with the court, a witness reported Brennan looking down at what he suspected was a cell phone as she drove at a high rate of speed south on Dixie Drive before the fatal accident shortly after 9 a,m, on March 4. Brennan is free from custody on a $10,000 bond.
