Plan To Protect Sage Grouse

Governor Gary Herbert is taking steps to protect one of Utah’s well-known bird populations. The governor has unveiled a proposal that designates roughly seven-point-five-million acres of land around the state as “sage grouse conservation areas.” Herbert says the plan will hopefully keep the sage grouse off the federal Endangered Species list, though conservations say the plan has loopholes that could still lead to much of the bird’s habitat being destroyed.
