Snow Assistant Leaves For Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP)-Snow College tailbacks coach Beni Tonga has accepted a position as a football coach at the Big 12 conference’s Oklahoma State University, per a report published in the Salt Lake Tribune Wednesday.

At the Stillwater, Okla. campus, Tonga will serve as the program’s player development specialist working with the recruiting office and spearhead the effort in recruiting players of Polynesian descent.

Snow athletic director Rob Nielson stated Tonga has performed outstandingly in working with student athletes at the Ephraim-based junior college and will ensue in assisting student athletes in his new role.

Tonga attended Snow College from 2004-2006 and was a starting tailback for the Badgers during those seasons.

Later, he transferred to Arizona State, playing for current University of Utah offensive coordinator Dennis Erickson in 2007 and 2008.

After completing his collegiate career at ASU, Tonga returned to Snow, serving as an assistant football coach in 2010.

He also plans to pursue a graduate degree at The Ohio State University.
