The Provo Municipal Council agreed yesterday to sell the city’s iProvo internet service to Google. Google will build upon the iProvo network to make Provo the third city in the U.S. to try Google Fiber, a fiber optic internet service that downloads up to 100 times faster than today’s average speeds. Google won’t pay Provo for the service, but will provide free Google Fiber internet service to all Provo residents for the next seven years.
