The nation of France is honoring a Utah man with its highest honor for his service during World War Two. Ninety-one-year-old Emanuel Kladis of Salt Lake City was just 22 when he drove a truck into the surf at Omaha Beach on D-Day and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. On Saturday Kladis was awarded the Legion of Honor medal by France’s honorary consul in Salt Lake City before dozens of family members.
