Park staff and volunteers from Canyonlands National Park will begin work on an improvement project Thursday, March 28th. The project is aimed at improving plant diversity and camping conditions along the rivers in Canyonlands. Crews will be cutting dead Tamarisk, and invasive shrub, and creating fire breaks around stands of native vegetation. Crews will also clear campsites along the banks and create paths for hikers and wildlife. During the improvement project, which is scheduled to run through May 15th, boaters may experience above-average noise levels during the day due to the use of chainsaws.
