Utah Emergency Animal Response Coalition president Julie Meron says Hurricane Sandy taught officials the importance of people’s pets. Officials say you can also take preparation steps for your pets. You should plan an escape route, keep three days’ worth of food and water, and keep a picture of you and your pet for proof of ownership.
