(RICHFIELD) – A new “kiosk”-type business venture may be coming to Richfield. At the city council meeting Tuesday night, Richfield businessperson, Katie Tolbert, discussed plans of placing a portable kiosk in one corner of Ogden’s Superstore’s parking lot. Tolbert said the ten-by-sixteen-foot building would bear the name “Katie’s Cup” and would also serve hot chocolate, smoothies, sodas, snacks and possibly, sandwiches to customers with a walk-up or drive-through window for convenience. Zoning Administrator, Paul Hinrichs, said Richfield’s Main Street would welcome this type of business. Hinrichs told the city council that the business needs to meet the Zoning Ordinance and Tolbert would need to get approval from the property owner to set up the business. He said that no water or sewer connection was proposed and that the Health Department would need to approve the project before the city could act on it. Tolbert commented that this type of business is common in Vernal, Moab and St. George. The city council will decide on the application in next month’s meeting.
