(CENTRAL VALLEY) – An elderly Richfield man was taken to the hospital with minor injuries Tuesday afternoon after crashing into a Monroe woman on SR-118 at the Central Valley Junction. A UHP report stated that just before 6pm, 80-year old, Brenton Walker of Richfield, driving a 1989 GMC pickup, was stopped at the intersection on SR-118 and moved into the roadway and was struck by 21-year old, Ashlee Ballard of Monroe. Ballard was driving a 1997 Ford Mustang northbound on SR-118 and swerved to the left to avoid hitting Walker but was not able to. Both air bags deployed in her vehicle, causing minor injuries, along with her passenger, 19-year old, Chanelle Ballard, also of Monroe. Neither were wearing seatbelts and were transported to the Sevier Valley Hospital for treatment. Walker was wearing a seatbelt and sustained minor injuries and taken to the hospital. UHP Troopers cited Walker for failure to yield.
