PHOENIX-Conor Jackson amassed three RBI, including a solo home run, while Orlando Hudson added a solo shot of his own as the Arizona Diamondbacks hammered the Chicago Cubs, 9-2 Tuesday at Chase Field. After Daryle Ward pulled the Cubs to within 5-2 in the eighth inning, a myriad of Chicago errors enabled the Diamondbacks to put the game away. Although the Cubs are still in the lead in the National League Central with a 58-42 record, they have lost five of their last six and are only 1-4 since the return from the All-Star Break. The Diamondbacks improved to 50-50 and dubiously, they lead the National League West with that mark. In other MLB action Tuesday, Toronto surged past Baltimore, 10-8, the New York Yankees stonewalled Minnesota, 8-2, Cincinnati edged San Diego, 4-3 in 11 innings, Philadelphia outlasted the New York Mets, 8-6, Florida blanked Atlanta, 4-0, Oakland smacked Tampa Bay, 8-1, Pittsburgh gashed Houston, 8-2, the Chicago White Sox shellacked Texas, 10-2, Milwaukee held off St. Louis, 4-3, Colorado bludgeoned the Los Angeles Dodgers, 10-1, San Francisco tripped up Washington, 6-3, Boston bested Seattle, 4-2, the Los Angeles Angels spurned Cleveland, 3-2, and Detroit torched Kansas City, 7-1.
