ST. LOUIS-Aaron Miles hit a clutch ninth-inning grand slam to make up for Jason Isringhausen’s blown save as the St. Louis Cardinals gashed the San Diego Padres, 9-5 Sunday at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals seemed to be in good shape in the eighth inning when Troy Glaus hit a two-run shot for a 5-3 lead, but the Padres rallied behind successive troubles by Edgar Gonzalez and Kevin Kouzmanoff. However, Miles then saved the day by becoming the first Cardinal to win a game with a grand slam since Gary Bennett did so against the Cubs in August of 2006. The win improved St. Louis to 57-43 on the season, while the Padres fell to 37-62 in defeat.
