(MONROE) – The Monroe City Planning Commission met in session Wednesday night to review a draft ordinance on the placement of shipping containers as storage units. Planning members say shipping containers are considered permanent structures and should be required to meet the Monroe City Land Use Ordinance set-backs. They say that users will need to obtain a building permit and follow International Building Codes. Planning members will present the ordinance amendments to the City Council in August and a public hearing will be held. Longtime resident, Bart Lee, was also selected to fill the expired term of Albert Windsor, who passed away recently.
