(PANGUITCH) – A tour bus carrying 55 passengers rolled and caught fire this morning in Red Canyon about eight miles east on SR-12. Public Information Officer, Becki Bronson of the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, said that luckily, no one was seriously injured in the accident. Bronson said that some of the injured were reported to have been wearing neck and back braces and bandages but no broken bones or puncture wounds. She said that the group consisted of mostly teens from the east coast who were part of the Rein Teen Great Adventure tour. The group had camped at Zion National Park and were heading to Bryce Canyon for a day hike when the accident occurred. According to a report, the tour bus went off the roadway this morning at about 11:30 and landed upside down in a creek bed and caught fire. The tour bus was estimated to be a total loss and was towed to Ruby’s Inn at the gateway to Bryce Canyon. UHP and the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the cause of the accident.
