(RICHFIELD) – The Sevier County Mosquito Abatement program continues throughout the long, hot summer months and Program Manager, John Johnson, says the program is necessary to combat the deadly West Nile Virus. Former Richfield resident, Lance Harrison, contracted West Nile Virus in Idaho in August of 2007 and is still recovering. Harrison said that when he went to the hospital, tests showed he had the worst type of West Nile Virus, which affects less than 1% of the population and sometimes leads to paralysis or death. He is currently Principal of Preston Junior High School in Preston, Idaho and is the son of Marilee Harrison of Richfield. He said that he still suffers some effects of the virus but his skills are improving.
