(RICHFIELD) – Demand for oil on a global basis is increasing at an alarming rate. According to Wendell Cox of the American Petroleum Institute, worldwide demand is rising as populations increase. Cox said global cultural, social and economic trends contribute to rising energy demands which is increasing at a 50% rate. He said the recent U.S. Energy Policy and progress in energy efficiency and conservation is important but oil production is more vital because of the increased demands.
