Moroni woman crashes with four kids

(MORONI) – A rollover south of Moroni Friday night involved a Moroni woman with injuries to her four children. According to a UHP report, just after 9pm, 36-year old, Esperanza Leal was traveling northbound in a 1994 Jeep Cherokee, when she drifted off to the right of SR-132, overcorrected and rolled, landing on her top. A seven-month old boy, along with a three-year old boy, a four-year old boy and a six-year old boy were in the back seat. None of the children were wearing seat belts. The seven-month old was in a car seat but it was not secured to the seat. The seven-month old boy along with the four-year old were ejected from the vehicle and the four-year old child was flown to Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City with serious head injuries. The other children were taken to the Sanpete Valley Hospital, treated for minor injuries and released. The UHP report also stated that Leal had no driver’s license and no report on her condition. Troopers indicated that there was a serious languange barrier and information was difficult to obtain.
