(RICHFIELD) – The Richfield City Council Chambers were packed last night with business and property owners and developers to address council members on the Main Street Enhancement Project. Several downtown business owners are opposed to the project with concerns over beautification clutter that would block their storefront display windows. Other business owners, developers, engineers and committee members, including the mayor and city council, are in favor of improving downtown main street with trees, benches, lighting and bulb-outs on city streets in the affected areas from 200 North to Center Street. Mayor Brad Ramsay commented that funding for the project has already been approved and construction should begin soon. He said that specifics of the project can be changed to accommodate business owners who may have problems with the improvements.
