Marlins Stonewall Maddux In Win Over Pads

SAN DIEGO-Jorge Cantu blasted a fourth inning two-run homer and Ricky Nolasco won his 10th game of the season as the Florida Marlins got past the San Diego Padres, 3-1 Monday at Petco Park. Greg Maddux took the loss on the mound for the Padres, who is winless since netting his 350th career win on May 10. Additionally, Hanley Ramirez had a sixth inning double which extended his hitting streak to 14 games for the Marlins. The win improved Florida to 46-43 on the season, while the Padres fell to 35-55. In other MLB action Monday, Kansas City stunned Tampa Bay, 7-4 in 10 innings, Boston blanked Minnesota, 1-0, the New York Mets held off Philadelphia, 10-9, Pittsburgh surged past Houston, 10-7, Colorado edged Milwaukee, 4-3, the Los Angeles Angels surged past Texas, 9-6, Oakland handled Seattle, 4-3, and the Los Angeles Dodgers torched Atlanta, 3-0.
