Bradley's 16th Homer Leads Texas Past Philly

ARLINGTON, Texas-Milton Bradley continued his renaissance with his 16th home run of the season which broke a fifth inning tie and Chris Davis also homered in his first major league start as the Texas Rangers snuck past the Philadelphia Phillies, 8-7 Friday at the Ballpark in Arlington in interleague play. Although the Phillies sprinted out to a 5-1 lead, they collapsed after Davis’ home run in losing their eighth game in their last nine. Meanwhile, Texas amid the 97 degree heat of a humid day in the Metroplex, held on after Josh Hamilton’s eighth inning sacrifice fly gave them an 8-6 lead as C.J. Wilson earned his 17th save in 19 chances. Additionally, Ian Kinsler had three hits for the Rangers, while Pedro Feliz had a third inning grand slam for Philadelphia in the loss. In National League play Friday, Florida humbled Arizona, 3-1 and in other interleague action, the New York Mets stonewalled the New York Yankees, 15-6, the Chicago White Sox torched the Chicago Cubs, 10-3, Detroit pasted Colorado, 7-1, Tampa Bay doubled up Pittsburgh, 10-5, Atlanta blanked Toronto, 4-0, Cleveland blasted Cincinnati, 6-0, Boston gashed Houston, 6-1, Kansas City smoked St. Louis, 7-2, Minnesota overpowered Milwaukee, 7-6, the New York Yankees exacted vengeance over the New York Mets, 9-0, Oakland smacked San Francisco, 4-1, Seattle blitzed San Diego, 5-2, and the Los Angeles Dodgers bested the Los Angeles Angels, 6-0.
