SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers have officially hired Atlanta offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan as their new head coach after firing Chip Kelly after just one season. The 49ers settled on Shanahan a couple weeks ago but had to wait until after the Super Bowl. This is the first head coaching job for the former Atlanta offensive coordinator who will be formally introduced in the Bay Area later this week.

NEW YORK (AP) — Fox drew an audience of 111.3 million viewers for the first Super Bowl to go into overtime. That’s a smaller audience than the New England-Seattle Super Bowl two years ago, but still ranks among the biggest ratings ever for a television program in the United States.

BOSTON (AP)— A Super Bowl celebration parade is planned today in Boston, with near-freezing temperatures not expected to dampen the rally through the city. It will be the fifth championship parade for the Patriots since 2002. The Red Sox have had three and the Bruins and Celtics one apiece since then.
