Snow Narrows Football Coach Selection Pool

Snow College is moving closer to naming the 21st football coach in the program’s 96 year history. Athletic Director Rob Nielson indicated the pool of quality applicants has been narrowed down, with interviews taking place over the next few days. Nielson says a decision could be made as early as next week on who will take over the highly successful junior college program.

According to sources, the job has sparked immense interest as over 100 applicants applied for the vacancy. Among those rumored to be in the running are former Bingham High coach Dave Peck; former Boston College and Snow quarterback Paul Peterson; Don Eck who recently resigned from Corner Canyon High; Weber State assistant coach Lance Hunsaker; and former UNLV, Hawaii, and USC assistant coach Keith Uperesa. Uperesa also coached the Badgers from 1995 to 1998, compiling a record of 35-8 with the second highest winning percentage in Snow history.

Other quality applicants that are reportedly on the radar include former NFL star Jason Buck, Les Hamilton, and Snow assistant coach Fred Taukei’aho. Once the finalists are named by the selection committee, Snow President Gary Carlston will name the new head coach.
