Sacramento State Holds Off Southern Utah 86-76

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Nick Hornsby scored 22 points to go with 11 rebounds, Justin Strings added 18 points and Sacramento State overtook Southern Utah in the second half for an 86-76 win Saturday night.

Marcus Graves got 15 points and 10 rebounds, Eric Stuteville had 12 points and Joshua Patton 10 for Sacramento State (11-16, 8-8 Big Sky Conference). The Hornets shot 54 percent from the field and had a 23-10 advantage in points off turnovers.

Stuteville dropped in a layup early in the second half to tie the game at 38-all and spark a 16-6 run that put the Hornets on top for good. Southern Utah twice cut the deficit to four in the final 3:49 but the Hornets clinched it by scoring 12 of game’s final 17 points.

James McGee led Southern Utah with 22 points, Jacob Calloway added 18 and John Marshall 11.
