MANTI, Utah (AP)-Friday, the Temple View Qualifier, one of the great Utah high school track and field meets annually, occurred, with many great athletes from the Mid-Utah Radio coverage area excelling.

In the girls’ 3200-meter run, SeOnna Southwick of Richfield placed first at 12:01.53 with Manti’s Madison Norris finishing in third at 12:28.54. Juab’s Maura Williams placed eighth overall in the event.

The boys’ 3200-meter run was won by Summit Academy’s DJ Matthews in a time of 10:09.62 as Jordan Cheney of Manti placed fourth. Nick Woolsey of Richfield placed fifth in the event.

In the boys’ 110-meter hurdles, Beaver’s Taylor MacDonald won the event in a time of 15.54 seconds while Richfield’s Josh Thomas was second at 15.67 seconds. Daycen Fowles of Delta placed fourth in the event as well at 17.84 seconds.

The girls’ 100-meter hurdles champion was Gunnison’s Kate Sorensen in a time of 16.74 seconds while Nicole Day of North Sanpete placed third and Baily Walker of Delta finished fourth in the event. Lillian Reese of Juab placed fifth in the event.

The girls’ 100-meter dash was won by North Summit’s Ashlin Blonquist in a time of 12.69 seconds with Shandi Bastian of Richfield placing third and Ronnie Walker of Juab finishing fourth.

The boys’ 100-meter dash champion at the event was North Sanpete’s Parker Hightower in a time of 11.64 seconds, edging Braiden Ivie of Emery who ran in a time of 11.70 seconds.

In the first of the field events to be recorded, Richfield’s Shandi Bastian won the girls’ high jump with a leap of 5-3 with Juab’s Rhiannon West finishing second while Lillian Reese places third. Kemri Buck of Juab finished fifth in the event.

SeOnna Southwick of Richfield also won the girls’ 1600-meter run, posting a time of 5:36.80, edging Juab’s LorraLyn Bronson who placed second at 5:37.60. Manti’s Madison Norris placed third overall in the event.

In the girls’ shot put, San Juan’s Katie Giddings won the shot put in a toss of 31-07.50 feet with Manti’s Kjersten Birch close behind at 31-04 feet.

The boys’ discus championship was won by Delta’s Jantsen Manis with a toss of 137-05 feet with the North Summit boys and girls winning the 4 x 100 relays respectively.

Kaylie Jenson of South Sevier won the girls’ javelin title with a toss of 108-03 feet.

In the boys’ 1600-meter run, Grand’s Ryan Lewis won the event in a time of 4:42.51. Jared Grant of South Sevier placed fifth overall in the mile run.

The girls’ 400-meter dash was won by Richfield’s Shandi Bastian in a time of 59.91 seconds. Linzy Flinders of North Sanpete placed third in the event with Juab’s Emilia Anderson finishing fifth.

The boys’ long jump was won by Richfield’s Josh Thomas with a leap of 21 feet with his teammate Kade Jensen placing fourth in the event. Juab’s Mason Mangelson finished second in the event.

In the boys’ 400-meter dash, North Summit’s Tristen Woolstenhulme won the title in a time of 51.28 seconds with Richfield’s Kade Jensen placing third and Manti’s Jaden Sterner finishing fourth overall.

In the boys’ 300-meter hurdles, Taylor MacDonald amassed the sweep, getting the crown in that race, as did Kate Sorensen of Gunnison for the girls.

MacDonald also showed his skills in the boys high jump, winning with a leap of 6-4 while Josh Thomas of Richfield placed second at 6-2 and Juab’s Aaron Clark was third at 6-feet.

The boys’ shot put was won by Delta’s Jantsen Manis with a toss of 49-10 feet while his teammate Brandon Atkinson placed fourth. The girls’ discus was won by Halli Stocks of Grand with a toss of 93-07 feet and Delta’s Bridget Christensen finished third with Saige Cowan of Juab placing fifth.

The girls’ 800-meter run was won by Madeline Norris of Maeser Prep in a time of 2:28.91 with SeOnna Southwick continuing her excellent day by placing second in the event. South Sevier’s Kaylie Jensen placed third and Nicole Day of North Sanpete finished fifth.

In the girls’ medley, Manti took the crown in a time of 4:34.16 with North Sanpete placing third in the event and the Richfield Wildcats placing fifth.

Truman Alder of Manti won the boys’ javelin with a toss of 151-06 feet while Juab’s Aaron Clark and Jackson Rowley placed second and third, respectively. Jantsen Manis of Delta placed fourth in the event and Trevor Olsen of Manti finished fifth.

In the boys’ 800-meter run, Grand’s Ryan Lewis amassed another individual title in a time of 2:07.07 while Jared Grant of South Sevier was close behind at 2:07.76 for second. Richfield’s Daniel Dastrup and Chaz Roberts placed third and fourth, respectively.

In the girls’ 200-meter final, Shandi Bastian amassed another victory, posting a time of 27.16 seconds with Gunnison’s Jade Wimmer placing fourth in the event.

In the boys’ 200-meter final, Tristen Woolstenhulme of North Summit placed first in a time of 23.24 seconds with Parker Hightower of North Sanpete placing second in 23.26 seconds.

Richfield’s boys won the medley in a time of 3:50.78 with North Sanpete placing third and in the girls’ long jump, Passion Reitz of Richfield won with a leap of 15-10. Delta’s Katherine Nelson was second and Juab’s Chandley Allred placed fourth.

Juab’s girls won the 4 x 400 relay in a time of 4:25.61 with Richfield placing second. North Summit’s girls won the meet title with 141.5 points, easily outdistancing second-place Richfield with 102 points and Juab placed third with 83.5 points. Manti was fourth with 48 points.

Finally, in the boys’ 4 x 400 relay, North Summit took the title in a time of 3:33.51 but Richfield placing second enabled them to edge North Summit for the team title, 87-83. Delta’s boys placed fifth with 70.5 points and Manti finished sixth with 41.5 points.

ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP)-Kenzie Mason of North Sevier took the girls’ javelin title to help the Wolves get some key points Friday at the Desert Hills Invitational during day 1 of the meet.

Mason tossed the javelin 117-10.50 feet with Isabel George of Millard also excelling in the event, placing third.

The Desert Hills girls have 35 points through Day 1 of competition to lead the way while for the boys, Desert Hills also has the lead with 34 net points thus far.

Other individual winners Friday included American Fork’s Sara Musselman in the girls’ 1600-meter run and Cedar’s Jensen Lambert in the boys’ 1600-meter run.

Additionally, Elly Williams of Desert Hills won the girls’ discus title with a toss of 118-03 feet and Caleb Rogers of Riverton took the boys’ shot put crown with a toss of 50-05 feet.

The girls’ long jump saw Dixie’s Starlee Woodbury take the title with a leap of 16-8 and Canyon View’s Seth Dabb won the boys’ high jump with a leap of 6-4.

The meet resumes Saturday.
