Weber State Spring Football Game Sees Shaheed Star

OGDEN, Utah-Saturday, the Weber State football team, fresh off of an appearance in the FCS quarterfinals in 2017, completed spring football with the annual spring game at Stewart Stadium.

The offense prevailed 39-26 over the defense in a game featuring a modified scoring format.

Head Coach Jay Hill mentioned the Wildcats still have some holes they need to fix and they are excited with the incoming influx of freshmen and juco transfers. He tempered his enthusiasm by telling various media in attendance “we’ve got a long way to go. We still have to shore up a couple of spots. It’s still a process and we’re right in the middle of it.”

Hill suggested many positions will be decided in fall camp and said summer will be an “awesome opportunity” for those who want to assert themselves as leaders.

Hill also said he appreciated the performances of redshirt freshman receiver Rashid Shaheed (2 rec, 73 yards, TD) and senior receiver Darryl Denby, during the spring game.

Weber State commences the season August 30 against Utah at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
